TOP TRAY - Class 1A, Summer Show

£10 cash prize

Three types of vegetables to be displayed on a tray, chosen from:

3 carrots, 3 onions, 3 potatoes, 2 brassicas, 2 lettuce, 2 cucumbers, 2 courgettes, 2 red beets, 5 tomatoes. 6 pods of peas, 6 pods of runner beans & 6 pods of french beans,

The vegetables to be displayed for effect, without being bent, within an area measuring 18” x 24” (45 x 60 cm). Display on a flat tray or board or in the area marked on the staging. Parsley is allowed for garnishing, but no other foliage or accessories, eg plates or rings. Each type of vegetable will be judged for condition, shape, colour and consistency.

TOP VASE - Class 32, Summer Show

A vase of 5-10 mixed flowering stems from a minimum of two different KINDS of plants. The display to be viewed from all directions. No accessories (e.g. bows or ribbons) are allowed although packing material can be used. Foliage which is growing naturally from the flowering stem, and is still attached to that stem, is allowed. Judging will consider the condition, colour, form and freshness of the flowers, as well as the overall effect.

A single tier, decorated sponge cake. Theme for 2024: ‘Olympics'.

The cake and any accessories should be presented on a board of maximum size 14" x 14".  Accessories appropriate to the theme are allowed. All sugarwork to be edible.

The judge will consider: taste & consistency of the cake; skill and technique of the decoration; the design and relevance to the theme.
